1️⃣1️⃣ In this episode, I speak with Hannah Vertal, a plant based bodybuilder based out of Cleveland, Ohio, who recently did her first bikini competition on a fully plant based diet. Hannah and I discuss how this contest prep differed compared to previous preps in terms of diet in particular, her training, what got her into bodybuilding, her reasons for going vegan, her experience with transitioning diet and lifestyle habits, her time in art school, PED’s in bodybuilding and so much more. Hannah provides a very interesting perspective on all of these subjects and I found myself relating to a lot of her opinions and experiences. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and I hope you find this episode as insightful and entertaining as I did!

Some crispy tofu stir fry for dinner the other nig Some crispy tofu stir fry for dinner the other night! Always one of the go-to options to get in multiple servings of veggies and high protein in a delicious way!

I pressed the tofu, cubed it, tossed it in a chia seed “egg” wash (simply chia seeds, water and some seasoning) and then dipped them in some flour. Air fried for about 10 minutes and in the mean time sautéed up a bunch of green beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and asparagus with seasoning, soy sauce and a little corn starch for a thicker sauce. Mixed in the crispy tofu and the end and served alongside some rice. 

Quick, easy, tasty and lots of protein and micronutrients! This specific meal was about 500 calories and 35 grams of protein!
This year has caused a lot of change in most peopl This year has caused a lot of change in most people’s lives. It’s obviously been a rough year, but a few good things came out of it for me that probably wouldn’t have happened otherwise. 

I temporarily moved out of the city which inspired me to finally buy a motorcycle after years of having a license and never doing anything with it because I was never really interested in riding in crowded streets. It definitely made my summer/fall a lot more exciting than it otherwise would have been and it’s been awesome being able to take the bikes out with my dad, especially (swipe for the comparison with my dads photo!). 

The bike’s tucked away for the winter now but it’s something to look forward to again for the spring 😉
Ravioli has been one of my favorite foods my whole Ravioli has been one of my favorite foods my whole life and being vegan hasn’t changed that! I whipped up some homemade vegan spinach ricotta ravioli last weekend that really hit the spot. 👌

Making ravioli from scratch is much easier than you might think! I used equal parts semolina flour to all purpose flour, a bit of salt and oil and just enough water so the dough wasn’t too sticky or dry. Simply mix it together, let it cool in the fridge, knead the dough, roll it out and then use the top of a cup to cut equal circles on the dough. Fill it with your vegan ricotta mixture (I used tofu ricotta, simply blend extra form tofu with some seasoning) and then seal it with another piece of dough by pressing the back of a fork down on the edges. 

Let them boil until they float and done! Secret tip: Sautée the ravioli for just a bit until they get a little crisp for texture gainz 😉
