TAA-S03Ep01 – DANIEL AUSTIN (@VeganxMeathead) on Getting Strong and Big on a Plant Based Diet, Activism Through Strength, and More!

In this episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Daniel Austin, AKA the Vegan Meathead. Daniel is a competitive, 75kg and 83kg powerlifter who holds multiple drug-tested, state records and competes along with the PlantBuilt team, the world’s largest international all-vegan athletic team, as a member of their powerlifting subteam.

Daniel has over a decade of experience competing in powerlifting as well as over 20 competitions to date. His best lifts in competition so far are a 469 lb squat, 315 bench press and 518 lb deadlift for a 1302 lb total in the 83kg class at a body weight of 175 lbs. One of Daniel’s driving factors behind his powerlifting endeavors is an expression of advocacy for a vegan lifestyle and to show others that it’s possible to perform at a high level on a fully plant based diet.

Daniel is clearly fond of imparting his wisdom to others, as well – he previously authored his book “The Way of the Vegan Meathead” which covers all about nutrition and diet strategies for getting strong and jacked on a plant based diet. He recently also just dropped the audiobook version of his book, so make sure to go check that out on Audible and at his website veganmeathead.com.

Daniel shares a ton of informative tidbits from the book and about his own personal journey from going from a skinny kid to getting strong completely on a plant based diet and I think you’ll find this episode chock full of super useful knowledge. Thanks again to Daniel for coming on and without further adu, on with the show!
